Cousins Makana and Kale Kahale have a special connection: they are both born on the exact same day. However, the two have not seen each other since Kale moved from Hawaii to Toronto when the two cousins were fourth graders. The summer they are fourteen, Kale comes to visit Makana. He has to relearn everything that Hawaiians do, because he hasn't been there for so long. Then one day, a terrible accident happens. Will Kale be able to overcome the odds and become better once again?
